Hi
I recently bought a 98 LT Rimor super brig728 and just curious if anyone else has one as I've never seen one. They are normally based on the sprinter platform. Mine wouldn't be the easiest to start and smoky on start up but there is only 117km on it? What should I check first? I upgraded from a LT1 karmann distance wide which I loved. |

Just looked one of these up and it looks like quite a piece of equipment.
Smoky starts are not uncommon on these engines. Check the basic stuff first, glow plug relay feeding to glow plugs and glow plugs. Check all the intercooler pipes for cracks and the intercooler itself, and check replace the vacuum pipes. After that I'd be looking to pump timing as if retarded can make slower starting and smokey. However I wouldn't bother just doing pump timing if service history doesn't show timing belt done within last 4 years. If this hasn't been done then get the belt and water pump done and the pump timing set at same time. Broken timing belt will destroy your engine and a change every 4 years or so will ensure a long and happy life. |
