Hey so I noticed that this seems to have broken off my engine

From looking up the part number I found out it was the pressure-relief valve. (Bear with me not great with engines yet)

the van has not moved since January and just had the engine on to turn over every now and then since. It's is a 2005 volkswagen LT 35

It looks like the plastic snapped not sure if I hit it or it was always like that from when I bought it.

Either way could anyone with a bit more knowledge let me know what it is and should I be concerned or could it be the cause of a greater problem?

I haven't done much to the engine since starting my conversion project just changed air filters and changed the fuel filter. Have not got the oil or filter changed yet as I seem to have a very stubborn sump plug.

any and all help much appreciated!
