Evening all, looking for a little advice. Anyone know if the Cramer unit under the seat is really a charger or simply a conditioner. Basically got it hooked up to mains but it's only showing about 8 volts across terminals. With engine running it shows just about 13. Gauge over door shows a faint single red. So does the Cramer unit actually charge a low battery or simply keep a charged one topped up?
Any thoughts or actual knowledge appreciated. Mark

Hi Mark, sounds like you have an aftermarket unit rather than the original westfalia unit - this may make things a bit trickier! My Florida was missing its charger when i picked it up but have now fitted a ctek unit which is great.
Hope this helps.

Mine also has a Cramer charger, I had assumed it was the original. Looks about the same age as the van.

The small brown cramer charger is original fitment.

It's basic and does have some moving parts, rather than being fully solid state.

My advice to you would be to take it out, take the cover off and give it a good clean out.  It will have 25 odd years worth of fluff, dust and general crap in it.
Clean and remake all the connections and make sure the solenoid is working freely.

Have a look here (click me) - for when I did mine.

Back in the slow lane, yeah!
