Help, I need a new fuel tank for my Florrie!

I managed to drive the back of the van over a crappy Spanish road verge and slam the back end on the tarmac ( i blame the crappy driver really not Spanish road-building standards at all).

Somehow the fuel tank got punctured/fractured despite being protected by the completely undamaged waste water tank and the steel bands that retain it. I'm going to teach Dynamo Magician Impossible this trick, as it's chuffin Impossible.

So, anyone got a good condition tank, or know where to get one?

There is a rusty-ish '86 one on ebay at the moment,

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volkswagen-LT-35-2-4-D-Fuel-Tank-1986-Warranty-/321187643804?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4ac846819c

,but the mounting steelwork looks different.

Does anyone know if the tank/mounts changed over the years, or whether Westfalia used a different tank on (later) Florida's?

Also if you have ever replaced a tank then any advice would be gratefully received.

Many thanks

You can get a new one from here...

Also a place in SE London called Aaron Radiator used to do them.

The mounting steelwork changed slightly depending upon the body type.

I doubt very much that Westfalia would change the tank or mounting hardware, thus making it harder to repair any damage. If your mounts are good then the tank itself should just swap out. One of the Florida owners may be able to bear this out.

cheers chaps, thanks for your help, that partsbase site is bloomin fantastic, and proves their a common tank.
Looks like i'll be giving autopanels-castleford and Aaron Rad's a call tomorrow, 'cos i got the ebay '86 one and started to clean it up but a found a hole Cry  so it's about as much use as the old one, just hope the seller is true to their word about their guarantee/ refund.
At least i'll have a bit more confidence in a new tank, having seen the state  of this one and mine they do seem prone to rust (yeah i know its a 20+ yr old tank but..), and i don't want to have to do this job again, nor drop 40litres of diesel on a Brittany ferry crossing again.

ta again
