Posted in wanted section too, but perhaps might be more likely to get tech support here?

It looks like part 291501317G isn't available anymore.

According to vagcat (http://www.vagcat.com/epc/cat/vw/LT/1994/109/53/1070142/) looks to be U4SL55X90X10. Not sure what the U4SL bit refers to.

I think it is a metal rimmed seal (if google translate of lt-freunde is correct), but have found a number of seals with different profiles. Haven't got the part to hand yet as its at a garage.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Not many 4x4 owners on here, you will have a lot more luck on LT-Freunde.

Marlow (brick-yard) aka  Martin List-Petersen (LT-Freunde), in Eire has two, and there is Rabbit 16v in Seattle-ish, USofA.

There may be more hiding out.

Welcome and good luck sorting it, I had a quick look and got nothing too.BeerHandshake

Thanks for the welcome. Having issues registering on LT Freunde at the minute, but will persevere.

Was interested to see who else might be out there ... Marlow has helped me out loads already, very knowledgeable and helpful.

Will post back when (if!) I get it sorted. Cheers

On Lt-Freunde there's a lot of 4x4 knowledge.
Seal should be available at any industrial seal distributor.
Cannot have a look at the moment...

If you haven't dismantled the diff you could seal it with milliput for a couple of quid.
It's impervious to oil etc and won't come off easily, but can be done with a chisel etc.

Running an old LT (35 years)  I know the problems with finding parts so wish you luck.

Welcome! Although my LT is a Sülzer and as such the axles are totally different, I can still help. The part number for the seal is 251 501 317g. The dimensions you listed above are correct. I dont have a membership or whatever for vagcat so I cant see the picture.

As was mentioned above, you should be able to get this seal from any seal supplier. I had to get all my seals for my transfer case and rear axle from a local seal supplier since I have no Sülzer parts catalog.

Good luck!
