And for connector i have found this link.
It is for diagnostics

Mystery Plug in the engine bay...

When exploring the engine bay - the engine in my van is the 1.9DG - I found the following 'mystery plug'....

It was hooked up on the back of the alternator, with nothing plugged into it. A quick posting on the forum was rewarded with an explanation - it is a diagnostic plug, used by VW to determine that the engine is at 'Top Dead Centre' (TDC).

Hi,

Any information about the on-board battery charger (BBB) would help me - how to check it etc..  Mine has stopped working (it used to work OK) and I'm not sure how to find out what the problem is.

I understand there is a 2A fuse somewhere but am not sure where.  I've searched this forum (and others) and haven't come across a simple explanation of how to check this fuse (I'm hoping the problem is as simple as just replacing this).

Any pictures would help greatly.

Regards.

To test a fuse you can check with a multimeter if you have one.
Or simply look at the fuse to check presence of a wire, it must be intact.
Check the value, it is written on it.

For the charger open the 4 screws and clean everything in it

Here is the place of the fuse on mine

and the whole schematics of my charger

I have more precise photos.

Just check and put a photo of yours. Check if some component is visibly broken, rusted or melt.

I just go voting and then i can help

Excellent - just what I needed - a picture of the inside of the black box showing where the fuse should be.  I should be able to check this later today.

If the fuse is still intact, is there a connection where the 220V supply comes into the vehicle (but after the trip switches)?  I read somewhere that the 220V supply splits - part going to the refrigerator and part to the LG20 charger.  I can't make this out from pictures/plans that I've found.

I'll also post picture later.

Good news - I think.

Managed to get the cover off the charger and it seems that the fuse has blown.  Hopefully replacing it will sort the problem of the charger not working.  See pictures:

Yes it is completely broken as you can clearly see.
Just by another one plus a spare one in case something else is broken.
It is the same model as me.
Mine was down and some components damaged.
As every components are very cheap, it is easy to repair.

Just another question.
Something has been soldered on your charger just in the circle.
Strange.... I don't have it.
Can you make a detailed photo on the stuff in the circle or write the reference. It seems to be a condensator?

I've ordered a few replacement fuses online.  Should be here in a few days so that I can test.

The thing that is soldered to my charger is some kind of capacitor.

I can't quite read what is marked on it - and it is gripped very tightly so I didn't want to force it.

Thanks for your help.
