Hi ,The last time i took my car out the water
pipe from pump exploded when i replaced this i then noticed oil in the
water which i think means the head gasget is leaking . I think this
would be a good time to convert my engine to a 1.9 AAZ if there is any
one who can help me with this. And how much cost this?
I live in Banbury oxfordshire.

Thanx :).
Exchanges and the head gasket will cost me 250 at a local garage.
I think that is a good option as this time :). |

If the hoses are rock hard it can indicate that the HG has failed allowing exhaust gases into the cooling system. Your expansion tank cap should allow it to escape (along with your coolant) before damaging anything else but they often don't work. It is possible you just have a faulty expansion cap and air in the system? Try replacing the cap for a blue VW one and bleeding the cooling system? You can also get a garage to check the coolant for hydrocarbons - although they always seem to find them and then want to change your HG!

And get a compression test done, this will also help to show if the HG is leaking
