i was going down the scooby SVX route , and have myself a DK box.
will this work for a TDI conversion , i assume it would as the idea was to keep the revs down on the SVX motor .. so will be same for the TDI ... but if someone can confirm , ( have a 1.6D in at the mo , so i guess i would use bell housing off that ) regards Matt

depends on the tyre size your planning to use. if you`re standard the dk is still a bit short for the tdi @ 20mph / 1000rpm
also depends on the weight/power you running. |

it`s a big round cage but there`s too many animals in it for my liking.to address this ring lee on 07977 765818.

DK gearbox will be o.k for a TDI but its still far to high revving, best bet would be to have a new 4th gear fitted to your DK box, that would then give you around 70 at 3000 rpm which aint to bad at all but still not perfect

on a gipsy i have managed to get 225/75 16s on rear, drops gearing down to around 67 mph at 3000rpmon a 3H box, Dont look to good but you get away with it on a Gipsy.
this is a good site for working out tyre size http://www.tyresave.co.uk/tyresize.html Edited by mazz - 21 Oct 11 at 21:19 |

i have 225,75,16s on my syncro panel van camper but they are "road" treads, on the pick up i will be using 215,70,16 A/Ts so my plan is to swap 3 + 4 gear with either a pair of vw gears or if i can stretch to it a pair of albins...i have yet to work out what ratios i need (or ask Aidan!) think i will get it in and running first

I've got a DK in my GTi Panel, used early rear gear selection rods, and new gearbox mount from RJES (£45)
goes well

Hutch, looked on his site but can't find the gearbox mount you speak of. Is it diesel size or petrol? How do you rate it?

personally i would say its still going to be reving plenty unless you have massive tyres im running a 3h 5speed with 0.70 5th courtesy of Aidan coupled to my 2.1td pug engine, it pulls the gear well so guessing that the lower reving tdi will need a taller gear than this with my tyres something like 185 70 16 im doing about 2870rpm at 70 which is only about 100rpm more than in the car the engine came out of but will pull over 100mph easily with this 5th gear! I would advise you to spend the extra and get the best out of the conversion, aidan certainly knows what hes doing!
