Hi all

Having just discovered 205/80/14's bend my wheel arches when braking hard and cornering I want to reduce the front tyres to get the required clearance. I have factory alloys with an ET of 30 and 50mm AVO lowering springs.

Has anyone got this set up with 195/80/R14's? I'd like to know if they are clear before paying loads more cash on a trial and error basis. I don't want to go back to the original size on the front as it will give it a bit of a dragster look, a look I don't want on this van.

Thanks for your help if anyone can advise from experience, there is no way I can work out if 8mm less in height and 5mm less in width is enough to give me the needed clearance.

Cheers

205/80r14 were Syncro only..  the std factory alloys had 205/70r14's on them..  which are about the same size as stock 185's, just a little wider..
Couldnt say about 195/80's  but they would be only 16mm taller than 185's, the 205's are about 32mm taller than 185's..

Hi Thanks,

I know the dimensions of all the options but without trying them I can't be sure I wont have the same problem. I thought I'd get away with the 205/80's but not quite. If I don't ever slam the brakes on when cornering I may be OK but I am not to happy risking bending the other arch. If I had standard suspension they would be fine.
