I've seen a smashed up diesel scooby in the scrappy recently. Unfortunately it was a front ender and did a load of damage to the motor. Unhappy

Hi, I keep looking to see if any damaged ones come up for the right money , not had chance to investigate the injection set-up yet but will think one of my common rial conversion set-ups will probably be able to run this engine once finalised , check the link below it'll happen soon , then I do seem to think someone in OZ did one ?

Can it be any worse than finding a 2.5 sohc? I guess so, but after months of thinking "yeah I'd like one of them" to last week saying "that's it I'll do it!"
Spent all weekend searching for rear damaged subaru....Nothing!
Will make some calls when everyones back at work but I (stupidly) thought I'd have a pick of them. Apart from ringing round SW breakers, can someone give me some other pointers? Where do insurance companies get shot of them? What am I missing?
Also what sort of price should I be paying? EJ25 sohc <90,000miles Service history, Side/rear (or light front)body damaged, newer the better. Can't find any to judge prices against.

I think www.subarugears.com will have the best solution for integrating the diesel boxer, but engine management could present the greatest problems here. Fortunately, third party ECUs for common rail diesels are now appearing, found SC Hurricane the other day.

LOL

40 million or so VW aircooled engines, Porsches, french filth 2cvs & BMW motorbikes, apart from those and more that I can't think of boxer engines are quite unique! LOL

Hey there!

just a quick update, my wife and I just quit both jobs and we started our adventure last month. We are in San Diego today to do some sand driving prep and then we head to BAJA Mexico...

The Subaru diesel has been fantastic smooth and quiet to go across the US cruising at 70Mph and 25-26 mpg (heavily fully loaded). We are currently 4300 miles into the road trip and one oil change ;-)

I would like to invite anybody to follow our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/crepeattack

Thanks!

Greg

Just had a good read, that is one tidy conversion.

Can't believe how smooth it is for a dirty diesel - I think I would need a much bigger bolt to get it to stand upright on my pd 130 on tick over.
