A B230. Its very good, has lots of power.
I have a slight oil leak from the rear main seal, but its been like that for a while now. It hasn't given me any problems other than the pitted head.

Will get a selection of pics including her undercarridge LOL

emailed keneddy yesturday about fitting a B230 engine in to a syncro doka

this is what they said

Our #2800 kit cost $440 (200mm) or $550 (228mm) (Adapter kit includes: Adapter plate, flywheel, pilot bearing and bolts).  Depends on what size flywheel you want to use.  If you go with 228mm then you can use your stock Vanagon clutch.

Shipping cost $109 usd

this is getting a little confusing for me could some wxplain the differnce in the fly wheels above. getting a little over my head.

thanks neil

Mmmm unsure but perhaps its would be dependant on engine was originally in your DoKa, i.e. petrol or diesel? Just a guess..

I would however strongly suggest you change the clutch while its apart anyway.

O.k, here you go lots of pics!

You can see that the rear panel has been cut and "adjusted" to accomadate the pulley. With the rear panel removed fitting this engine must be a doddle.

Having had a good look at it today (and had the piss taken my my missus for taking so many pics for you lot - my "imaginary" friends!!) i can see why this is so good for DoKas, the inlet manifold is a little high for a standard van.

So, from the top:

Closer

Now form standing on the deck - all angles:

With her flap open ShockedLOL

Adjustments to the rear panel & pulley

And of course the ones you were waiting for!

Hope thats helps satisfy your urges!!

Curtis let me know when is a good time and i'll pop over.

A 240 i think, it was done in sweden. Came to the UK via Patrick at Tri-Star.

I need to tidy it up a bit, do something with the air filter - K&N style would be good.
There is plenty of room for a turbo, so i think you could fit a 760 jobbie without to much hassle. Long term i would like to fit the fuel injected engine and LPG it.

There are quite a few Volvo-converted T3s in Sweden. Don't who, but theres a small swedish firm making conversion parts for T3 and also for racing beetles. Don't we have any swedes in this forum? Tey should know who makes the parts.

Too weird for me though. Volvos have such a distinct engine sound. Absolutely bulletproof engines though! Almost bought a syncro doka with a B23 in it, but it was beaten and had unfriendly mileage.

Tage is my name :D
Too many T3's...

LOL No worries, i'll call you and pop over next weekend.

Thanks for the invite Neil, but i cant make it tomorrow. Here are another couple of pics. The exhaust has been dade up with a basic "U" pipe as a down pipe from the manifold, this then goes into 1 box, and the tail pipe is trimmed to fit. I will be making a new one at some point, very easy if you are half savvy with a mig.

time for an almost 9 years later post...

I have Spannerboy's  tristar with the Volvo lump in it,  but its an auto and I intend to put a different engine in it. I was thinking about putting the Volvo engine in my other Doka (2.1 manual)

would anyone know if the kit for fitting the Volvo lump is any different between auto and manual?
I'm presuming that they would have used the original T3 torque converter with an adaptor onto the Volvo crank??
need to get back in the workshop and check the round it with a lead lamp.

WHY T3's.... because they are just so adictive, and having one just aint enough
