Help! Auxiliar Battery Problem

   Hi all!
I have a 1981 2000cc Vanagon Westfalia, in witch i have installed a Westy Auxiliary battery kit last year, with a marine gel battery.
everything went ok, until this January, that i forgot to turn of the main battery, with the van parked for 2 months. The Radio drain it all, and to put the Van working i had to use cables with the main battery and another car.
Only this weekend and right before going on vacation in the van, i have noticed that the main battery is not working. I have two cigarette sockets attached to the auxiliary battery and they only work when the van is working.
What may be causing this? 
Can it be due to the fact that the main battery is not fully charged?
I will be very greatfull for all help!
