Before i begin, does anyone have any tips for fitting a manual choke to a 2.0 petrol LT? Is there a kit? is it easy to bastardise something from some other model? that kind of thing.......

Depends on the carb, mine is a weber 34ich with a manual choke.
LT28 1979 2.0 Pampas Nevada Camper LPG 93K, 1980 T3 A/C Camper 98K,1994 RRC 3.9 LPG 120k , 1998 Audi A6 Est 2.5 V6 diesel 127k

Could be one of many mate, for example Pierburg, Solex or it could have been changed before you bought the van.
You need to take the engine cover off and look for identification marks on the carb.

I'm happy to do the research for you, but I do need to know the model, as there are kits available for some and not others.

She is the Solex...Its giving me the symptoms now that the choke is just on all the time...

They have carbs in stock @£95+vat+postage, and may be able to provide just a choke unit.

I seem to be having the same problem with my choke to the extent that I have now
removed it all together (not good at this time of year) please let me know if you had any joy getting a new choke from the suggested link
