that pin just looks like a roll pin. could it be that the pin is slipping out and touching?

How about replacing it with a plastic or wooden dowel?

just had exactly the same problem but i yanked out the glove box and ripped out all the fuses before it melted to many wires. got away with just one melting. this warning should be in the information section as this is obviously a common fault that we should all be aware of.

this can also be a problem on a T4
