Fridge Ignition

   Hi folks,  my fridge (rm184)works intermittently on gas. I press the gas button etc(proper procedure as per manual) , sometimes the ignition works, pilot light goes on and sometimes it does'nt. The temperature control knob is very stiff to turn. Could this be the cause of the problem?
