hellooo

I've just bought my first T3... 1990 autosleeper pop top low mileage and 1.7 diesel.  Ooooh and it's lowered! hee hee  Big difference from the bay!!

Now for the maths - I bought £30 of diesel and it went 180 miles on that.  How can I work out how much mpg i am getting - I was thrashing it a bit.....

cheers for any help

deisel =about £1 pr litre so 180 miles / 30 = 6 so 6 miles per litre
1 UK gallon = 4.546092ltr
so 6 x 4.546092 = 27.28mpg

i think.....

Price per litre X 4.54 =Cost per gallon.

Divide £30 by the cost per gallon = xxx gallons used.

Divide 180 miles by xxx gallons used = MPG

Approx 27mpg.

But you don't pay what we have to pay for petrol Grant...try paying £4.55(A$10.40)per gallon like we do here compared to the AU$ 5.68ish(2.50GBP)you pay....i know which i'd prefer.

27mpg does sound a bit low for a diesel but then I've had no experience with the 1.7. I understand most1.6TD owners get around the mid 30's and I know my mate Steve hit the low 40's average on a long run to mid France in the summer (mind you, he does drive very conservatively)

My 89 California 2.1 varies between 22-25mpg and I believe the 1.9's are very similar (due to having to push the engine that little bit more)

I guess hightops etc would pan out several mpg less than this with the same engine.
