Hi, recently became owner of 86 Westfalia Joker, got original nice alloys on it, but only one set of two different special nut adaptors.  Makes me a bit nervous, should I ditch the special locking nuts and get regular T3 nuts (and from where, a scrapper??) or would you recommend another solution.

Thanks, the newbie Von Angus

I'm lost...you say it's got adaptors but original VW alloys don't need adaptors.

If you mean it's got different nuts and bolts....well it should have tapered seated nuts on the rear and tapered seated bolts on the front.

If you want the correct tapered seat nuts/bolts and locking nuts/bolts get in touch with www.brickwerks.co.uk

This is what the seat of the nuts/bolts should be like if the alloys are original VW.

Tapered seat

And this is what they shouldn't be like.

Radiused seat

Thanks, perhaps they arent original, but reasonably fancy aftermarket.  But thanks for the link, very helpful.

Ok thanks for the tip, here is a piccie of wheel on 86 1.6TD Westy Joker, purpose of pic is to try to decide whether to ditch any special nuts in favour of standard wheelnuts, or get more adaptors for safetys sake.  If that makes any sense.  rainy day rainy day rainy day!

those are factory alloys.

They should have nuts/bolts with tapered seats.

What are these adaptors youre referring to?
They dont need any kind of adaptor, they should just fit, work, and not give any hassles...

ahhhh... wait a mo...

looking at that picture, you have some kind of security nuts/bolts fitted?

Is that what we're talking about?

If so, just replace them with standard nuts/bolts, and fit one set of locking nuts (available from Simon )
