First post on this thread and never bin ere before and now i seem to have a nice AAZ conversion i'm gonna drive ya all mad!

Right picked the van up man says it's a 1.6td dipstick on a 1.9 AAZ engine so the full mark is actually the bottom mark? Then as i neared home from Germany the oil buzzer started beepin as i went up hills, around the 38461 roundabouts in Crawley. Was he wrong i have no oil leaks and no smoke did i see!

My solution would be to change the oil and refill it up with the correct amount of oil for a 1.9 AAZ which is ________? and then drive around for a wee while, let it settle and go cold and mark it and then worry if  he was right? I also thought of changing the swithces for peace of mind too, found the top one where the bottom one please?

More as i find things!

2 switchs are on the back of the block and on the filter mounting...

nope, thats just the intake air fella....maybes have a look underneath for a
smaller radiator looking thing - pretty common to do, and if the guy had
gone to the extent of putting a higher final drive I reckon there'll be an
extra oil cooler on there...

come on peet - keep up! Intercooler is a bit important - gives the turbo cold air to intake and therefore make denser volume of air in the mixture.

you got yerself a diseasle wagon then? come on, what is it, where's the pics, why arent you round here showin it off (etc etc)

..or is it white and you're too scared to admit it....?

Where is the bottom of the block please? And which end is it please? Someone else is doing it for me at the mo as i'm working! I also lost reverse at the mo as i seem to have lost all the fluid from the gearbox on the way home thru the driveshaft seal which vw no longer do - any ideas where i can locate a seal for the drive shaft and if the box is salvageable? Hence why i haven't popped round calvin n theres a piccy at the top ya plum!

Thanx Si, I shall try a different dealer or rehasssle him then, it was my usual and very helpful commercial dealer, got it up on the microfiche and it kept coming up as 'no part' which i thought was odd as it must be a very common thing to replace!

So chances of box survival with little fluid are bad or good? I slowed right down to 45-50mph in 5th once leak was spotted...

I refound the info pages and reread up on some of the things i oughta remeber... Bit of scared of the AAZ conversion now, looks like loads of work was done! But it all looks good, only fault i can see at the moment is the air filter box is missing a hose or some such to connect to the inlet pipe and the buzzer of doom which i shall investigate! And of course me gearbox...

I'll be ordering a nice set of -45 springs n shox in next few months Si!
