Recently changed the wheels on my bus to some porsche boxster alloys.
However on the fronts I have a problem that I can't fit the centre caps as the hub cap (the bit which the speedo cable comes through) is sticking out a little bit too much (say 5mm). Does anyone now if you can get or modify the hubcaps so that they sit in further. Don't want to put spacers onto to resolve it really as the wheels sit nicely under the arches at the moment |

I believe they can, only niggle might be the speedo cable, altough mine tends to sit too far in on it's own anyway. How you getting on with your glass hunt? |

Excellent stuff, will have to try and modify them some how. Glass wise got my rear quarters, rear screen and door drop down glass, just need sliders and 1/4 lights. Did you have 1/4 lights? If so drop us a pm |

May be worth trying to see how far the cable will push first. I rekon that it may be good to try and keep the hole for the speedo as concentric as poss. I would try to cut and shut the middle part of the cap by parting it off with a lathe. Good luck! |

Can be cut down without any problem, speedo cable drive isn`t an issue, the cable just pushes through the rubber grommet in the back of the hub a bit less than before. Done both fronts on mine today, I cut 10mm off them, easy job with a lathe and a parting-off tool, or just hacksaw and file them (quite thick steel though)

I tickled the nut on the end of my axle and the speedo cable to make more room. |

Caps should fit right back on with 10mm removed, I hammered mine on good Had to spot-face the back of the wheel centre cap to clear the speedo drive square end and then just stuck the centres into the wheels with silicone (had to remove the sprung "ears" for clearance.

its worth mentioning that there are different kinds of centre cap...
the "concave" ones wont go on the front. The flat, or slightly "convex" ones will usually... Just make sure you fit the caps before you put the wheel on, and you might need to keep tapping it in as the wheel is tightened... If yoyu get desperate, you can also cut the mounting lugs from the centrecaps and stick em on with sikaflex |

Just to add to that, I've got concave ones on my wheels. Drivers side fits fine as long as the caps on the wheel before you bolt it on like you say. Passenger side is slightly different as the speedo cable has actually pushed the centre of the cap out slightly, but if I didn't tell you, I doubt you'd ever notice!
