Lo guys,

Found out that the germans have a different 12v socket on the dash than ours here,  couldn't plug me bloody tomtom in when collecting our new bus.

Is it this I need?

and is there anywhere cheaper to get em?  Might need a few.

Also where do you get those KM/H to MPH conversion stickers for your clocks?  Had a look on ebay and didn't much, perhaps not looking for right thing?

Take care,

J

the one you picture wont do the job.

You need a Hella Accessory plug to standard cigarette lighter adaptor.

I wouldnt bother with stick on faces, just get an MPH speedo if it bothers you, or put marks on your KPH for 30,50 and 70.

Or more convenient, just replace the cigarette lighter for a standard English type. It takes all of 5 minutes to slightly enlarge the hole with a round file.

Side note* because the dash is metal the new lighter doesn't need a seperate earth cable, just the positive feed to the centre pin.

You could always add a standard type fag lighter socket to the dash near to the OE Hella type socket, then wire across to it. You`ll not be plugging anything massively silly into it, so no probs there, will still be fused anyway.

Did this on mine, dash is metal so not hard to drill and Dremel a suitable sized hole neatly, then buy a socket.

Also: KMH to MPH speedo conversion stickers...... won't correct the mileometer and tacho, they will still be moving at KMH speeds.

A replacement will set you back £91.00 plus Vat New or around £55.00 second user rate. Make sure the tacho works before you buy used, they are prone.

cheers guys, appreciate the help.   For now I have just bought the adaptit 5 down our local camper shop.

Regarding KM/H if you don't recommend those stickers then I wont bother.

CaliforniaDream,  cant seem to find the replacement gauges on JK.  Wont be doing it soon as I am a little strap for cash,  but just interested :)

Thanks again :)

cant see why you would need to replace the whole binnacle, just the speedo section...

they're not difficult to change.

put an ad on the wanted forum, someone will have an MPH speedo.
the cables changed at some point from screw on to clip on, just make sure you get the right one, and also check the numbers on the fac at the bottom cos they relate in some way to the calibration...

Hi
Just get a MPH clock second hand, always on ebay germany
The three digit number below the mileage is important as it refers to the revolving for the mileage, simon explained it all to me @ vanfest ut ive forgotten it now

So got the dial, changed the mileage to match what my current KMH was (2 small black screws on the face & some jiggling of a small screwdriver)

Put the dial in and Ive kept my old KMH dial in case I may need it again
