Ours don't come on without the ignition either. The only lights we get without ignition is door lights, brakes, reverse and hazards. I was helping with an MOT test earlier at the local ford dealer because I'm curently doing work experience there, and when testing lights nothing was said about ignition being on or off so I presume you should be fine without ignition. If only one light comes on, wouldn't that be a park light?

When I go into the workshop tomorrow, I'll ask the question to one of the MOT testers and see what they say. I'll PM you late evening as I finish work at 5 but I have to go straight up to school for a concert. Will send PM around 10ish

cheers,
david

..side lights should work without ingition.. its to do with parking lights ect.. if u park your van in a street without street lighting and its night time your supposed to leave your sidelights/parking lights on... but i dont think its part of the MOT...... as above concerning the indicator.. on some cars if u switch the indicator left or right with ignition off and sidelights on only the side u are indicating will light...

Oi cjtommy!  I just replied to this same subject on the T3 Tech page!  Please go there and read it!!!

BTW If parking lights are fitted, then I think they have to work.  I don't think you can have OE lights that don't work and expect to pass?

Side lights should work without the ignition for the MOT, as should hazzards.
