I know the tank size is a claimed 80ltrs, but how much have you ever put in one go?

Is it truly 80 or will it take more?

My best was 78.2.

I think my best/worst was about 76litres. Its a bit worrying to think you'll run out of fuel within 30miles (7miles/litre) assuming 80litre capacity is correct. I'd prefer to have the idiot light come on earlier.

They hold more- i got 80.57 litres in mine once at a dubious looking garage in Leicester, in fact i got Trading Standards involved, being convinced the pump had been interfered with, but all was well. Iv'e since got 80.90 in. Once i did 640 miles without refuelling ( 174)

To be sure; brim the tank and drive untill you run out  ... otherwise you'll never know.

Don't forget to have a can of fuel with you!

Don't run out of fuel in a dangerous place!

Managed to get 81.68 litres in mine today, after hanging on to get fuel 1p a litre cheaper! I did over 40 miles with the low fuel light on. It averaged about 34.5 mpg (619 miles), which is a bit down on usual, but there was some air con use, it was generally laden, and no effort made to stick to the legal limit.

I heard that if you let a diesel run till dry you drag a load of crap through your engine...s o I presume it is not a good idea.

I have got 79.9 in the tank

Kind Regards

I don't think that there's a significant amount of crap in diesel these days (even in the Former Soviet Union).  If, occasionally, something unwanted does find its way into the fuel tank, it's better to run very low, so as to suck it up and deposit it in the fuel filter.  In other words; run low regularly in order to keep the tank clean.

One of the snags with diesel engines back in the day was running low on fuel so that turning a corner or negotiating a roundabout sloshed the fuel away from the pump pick up and viola! air in the injectors and a messy bleeding session on the cards. I can also remember taxi drivers setting light to paraffin soaked rags and holding the flame over the air intake to persuade the buggers to start. Come on a bit since then eh?

I saw a bloke in the tax free zone between Turkey and Bulgaria jack the rear of his Merc up (fuel cap side) so that he could squeeze a few more tax free litres in

First post for me, so please help. Why is my 07 T32 kombi(130) only doing about 30 to the gallon, only done 1100 miles, will it get better?

Also will 18" wheels affect the speedo reading.
