I have tried miltons, mixed pretty potently so whole thing smelt like a hospital for days after, but alas no joy, the stubborn mildew / mould is still there. Any other suggestions? Has anyone tried painting the flocked material or anything instead? It doesn't smell, just looks ugly.

I had a similar experience with Milton, now using a mould cleaning spray by HG. It's actually their Bathroom Mould Spray.
Works best by using it neat, it comes in a bottle with a trigger/spray, you don't need to work it in with anything unless there is a particularly stubborn, bad patch. Works great and seems to stop it coming back again. Leaves a very strong bleachy smell, only downside is its awkward spraying upside down and you certainly don't want to get it on your canvas/seats or curtains. Does not seem to effect original colour of flocking, maybe worth a try if Milton not having the desired results. |

Just to update, used the HG Bathroom Mould spray as suggested. Was covinced it wouldn't work cos nothing else had, but hey presto left it on 10 mins and its good as new now! Superb tips KarmannKabb, thanks!
For benefit of others, it does leave a strong smell and as KK said, you don't want it to drip on anything like canvas etc as it will bleach it. |

Worked well for me. I worked it in with a soft brush and then blotted it out with towels. It needs to be soaking wet though.

Another shout for Milton here, mixed with warm water and applied through a spray bottle. Leave for 20-30 minutes, scrub, wipe, job done

Last year I had the same problem
and after a long search and many tries I found something that really worked for
me. If you still need an advice the inside of my pop-top looks
like new after i cleaned up using Autoglym Fabric
Hood Maintenance Kit . It's not cheap, but it's effective.There's a
Fabric Roof Cleaner kit - cleaner plus sponge-thingy. And then, to prevent
future problems, a Fabric Roof Protector. You could do a small test area first. I hope this will work
for you too. |
