Hi all,
I'm new here, so "hello"! I've got a 1994 1X T4. A few months ago I fitted a new clutch. Since then I've had a knocking noise. I've got quite a bit of end float in the halfshaft that runs across the back of the engine, it can easily be pushed in and out and knocks when it does, maybe 2 or 3mm of play. I have taken the shaft out and fitted a new clip, this made no difference. I've just taken the gearbox out again and noticed that the other side has a similar amount of play in it as well. Surely this can't be right, as neither the oil seal or the roller bearings would be designed to take this side to side movement! So I guess my questions are, is this amount of play correct, or should I just get another gearbox? Thanks in advance, Bern.
