Hi have been having intermitent starting issue. Have checked battery, okay, cleaned battery terminals and earth point also cleaned gearbox earth connections. When key turned can hear click in relay fuse area and also at the rear in engine bay. Is there a starter relay on 1984 T3 Yes or No? if so which one? could this be the issue? Any advice in simple basic step by step instructions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you |

Common issue due to solenoid not engaging. Try tapping with hammer this often works. Best get a recon starter to be sure.

Had the same problem. In my case was the starter switch having high resistance. You can check this by removing the steering shroud and pulling the plug and cable from the bottom of the switch. The two fat cables (maybe red and red/black but can't be sure) can then be shorted out with a bit of wire. If it cranks it then OK it's the switch. If it still just clicks, check the voltage on the red wire.
