I use some syntetic oil. At the moment i use semi-syntetic from Biltema. It consumes about 1liter to 1000km. May be a littel much, but it has ben working its as off for 32 years and 200.000km. The engine will only do 150km more before i take it out, and its life is over.
On the German LT-wiki it says to NOT use syntetic oil in the gearbox, but i dont know where to buy non-syntetic gearbox oil. Here is a link to the the german LT-Wiki. the forum is 20 years old and i think the software is also 20 years old. http://www.lt-forum.de/navigation_desktop.htm Here is a link to a german man that has the same engine as i wil be instaling. Hovewer his is not, AFAIK, TÃœV aproved. http://www.vw-lt-karmann.de/html/umbau_auf_2-5_tdi.html Here is the Norwegian Forum: http://vwbus.no/forum/viewforum.php?f=23 The "other" german forum: lt-freunde.de/forum/ |

As to oil choices I use 10 - 40 standard mineral oil and change it often! Edited by Serge - 25 Feb 19 at 09:36 |

Hi guys!
What oil do you recommend for the LT 2.4TD? The manual says VW 50500 10w-40 I think, but I believe that it makes a big difference if it is syntetic, semi orineral and also it different allot between the brands and specific oil because of additives etc.. I know there are many opinions about this topic, but it would be awesome if those who have concrete experience with a specific oil could share their experience! What oils do work well in this engine? Brand name, syntetic/mineral and viscosity.. :) Thanks! |
