Speedo behaves erratically

   The speedo flicks from one speed to another and registers some really high speeds. At rest, as the speed shows a speed the handbrake warning sounds when it is applied. The van has been converted to a camper and has a leisure battery. I have disconnected the battery and it has not made a difference.
Anyone have any ideas?
