I understand you may be doing the AFN conversion to a budget but for the sake of 38quid I would not be putting an old secondhand (?)unknown vital component into a engine when a nice full output capacity  new one is so readily available!

Its your choice but a nudge in the right direction reveals this:-

Fair shout.
Haven't even looked elsewhere for bits yet, so may well get a new one at that price.

The oil pick up pipe should be part of your new pump unless you're referring to the turbo oil feed pipe? I didn't think the JX alloy mount fitted on the turbo side either with AFN conversions - you need a fabricated mount.

Tim advised me I need the turbo side ally mount.
The subframes and engine mounts I'll fabricate.

I've ordered the oil pump from Brickwerks, so will see if the lift pipe is part of it.

Thanks for the pointers though. 👍

If you are using the Jx exhaust manifold and standard Jx exhaust with turbo adaptors then you use the standard left hand Vw mount. Standard afn manifold requires fafricated mount for turbo clearance.
Each has its plus/minus points that may require turbo indexing for oil drain exhaust fabrication and right hand engine mount depending on engine donor ( Audi or Vw) Tim wil advise you what is necessary and what is not.
Oil pump will come with pick up as standard and you will also need a oil return bung for engine block.

Ah cool, thanks. Makes sense.
I'm juggling a heady mixture of budget versus time versus urgency! Embarrassed

May have to clock the turbo depending on where it ends up mounted. I'm leaning toward using the AFN manifold and then just fabricating my own exhaust. I haven't got the JX exhaust anyway, but I do have the manifold, downpipe and flexy from the Passat. A short stainless connecting pipe and universal eBay backbox looks favourite at the moment.

The engine is going in a DoKa, so I have a lot more vertical space to play with than if it were in a panel or camper.
Tim will no doubt steer me in the right direction; he's been really helpful so far and hasn't even made a bean out of me (yet).

It will no doubt become more clear once the adaptor plate is on and I can get it all roughly in place.
With it loosely together and a couple of measurements, it looks like one solution may be to have cranked mounts onto the case to give me the 40mm drop I need for the new gearbox to line up whilst retaining the conventional mountings on the engine bars. Those mounts come laterally quite a long way from the case, which is why I'm looking at them.

Anyway, as it's a 'Wanted' post, I still definitely need

Sump
Dipstick

Cheers Thumbs Up

Thanks for the link showing the VW OE part number. Looks like i may have to source an aftermarket part since the OEM part is coming back as discontinued and no longer available. Here's the Page showing that it's discontinued https://www.vwpartsprime.com/oem/volkswagen-oil_pump-068115105bp.html
