Hi All
I just replaced my 1.6cs to a 1.9 1Y engine. I am getting my DY gearbox rebuilt at present and was thinking about fitting a 1.6td crown wheel and pinion since the bhp is similar to the 1Y. Then I was thinking instead maybe I can fit 215/80/16 tyres instead which would bring the RPM at 60MPH down from 3902 to about 3386. This would be similar RPM levels to a 1.6td, so I figure that might be a happy compromise . (651/750 X 3902 = 3386RPM) Does anyone know if 215/80/16 would fit without any modifications? I currently have 205/65/16 alloys on it. Im driving back to Sweden in the summer so I figure all year round winter tyres would be quite handy. I am in the forest a lot etc. Cheers A

You'd prob squeeze them in the back. The front nope. Not with some ach modification or jacking it up a little. I've got 215/70/16 and they catch my arches as I've had to space them out to stop contact on the upper struts.

Thanks OB1 :)
What about 205/85/16, would that be a runner? Or is it OK to have 215s on the back and 205s on the front? |
