Paging nicq and Dropchip... Paging nicq and Dropchip...
Both of you are now the metaphorical Viagra required to transform the current weak and wobbly UK negotiating team to strong and stable. #doingyourbitforblighty #brexitmeansbrexit (whatever the fook brexit actually is...) |

nobody knows what brexit will cost as nobody has any idea of the final outcome.
I do know that I would rather have elected people run the country as opposed to unelected people that do not have our interest running us. The EU do not want us to go as we are the biggest cash cow in the Union. |

1. Agreed - nobody knows what it's going to cost because our current clueless government have no idea what they're hoping to achieve. I'm guessing though that we can make a good estimate of the minimum cost. 2. EU laws only took effect if they were approved by both the EU Parliament - made up of the MEPs that people voted for, AND the EU Council - made up of representatives of the EU Goverments that people voted for. Then the UK Parliament - that we voted for, could choose to what extent they wished to adopt or challenge any new EU law. If you think that this process counted as having no democratic representation then I'm afraid you weren't paying attention. 3. The UK hasn't even been one of the top three contributors to the EU budget, which are Germany, France and Italy. Happy days! |

'Unelected' (which is what you said) is generally taken as meaning 'no democratic representation' (which is what I said).
In terms of country size, Germany has a larger population, but France's is basically the same and Italy's population is about 10% smaller. I suppose those sort of facts are the kind of thing you end up with if 'you read not assume'. Edited by clift_d - 23 Feb 18 at 17:02 |

Italy with as far as the EU is concerned includes Sicily making it bigger than the UK.
We are a cash cow . Let's go back to what we signed up for a common market. Not a federal organization run by Germany and France |

I'm afraid those pesky facts disagree with you again.
The population of Italy including Siciliy and Sardinia is estimated at 60,494,000 (latest Istat figures from 1st January 2018). The most recent ONS estimate of UK population was 65,648,100 (figures from June 2016 released 22 June 2017). The current projected ONS population estimate for 2018 is 66,500,00. Ooops... Arghh, just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in... Who's the "We"? If it's all about the money, just imagine how much more cash you would have to spend in Surrey if England got rid of us "subsidy junky" Scots... Surely it's about time England had its own indyref so it can gain its complete independence and take back control from all those interfering others. Go on, you know you want to. I'll even help you campaign! Fairplay clift_d with your concerted attempts at conveying those pesky facts on t'internet on a Friday night. Just make sure you don't ended up emulating Kurt Vonnegut's character Zog.

I may admittedly have been projecting my own subliminal fears as I'm pretty nifty on my toes for an old git, and I've just nailed a curry for the second night running. Breaking News: Incoming footage of Theresa's negotiations with Da EU 27 Masif's train coming in at the end. |

Still working on taking back control I see... In fact, scroll right and check out the gauges nearly maxing out at the moment for the French and Dutch interconnects. Over 10% of UK power currently (see what I did there) coming in from those pesky Europeans. How you gonna make all that innovative Jam now if there's not enough leccy to work the cooker.
