Put some gas in before the MOT, its your choice which fuel it is tested on.
Knackered carb issue should be solved.

Ah if only my life was that simple. Nearest log station bout 10 miles away but might as well be 1000. Vans got no mot I'm reluctant to insure it as I'm probebly going to sell it anyway and no way I'm driving it without insurance mot or tax. Managed to find a very nice local mechanic who will pick it up from a friends barn and drive it to his garage to mot on his trade plates but it's only about a mile can't ask him to take it any further. Ran fine on log best it's ever sounded now it runs on 6 cylinders rather than 4 but clearly the carb is rather poorly. Pulled it this afternoon been staring at it all evening trying to think best way forward tomorrow. If I can't get it running right tomorrow then can't expect him to drive it so I'll have to call the scrap man as has to go from barn by Tuesday. Rather frustrating cost me a fortune this van real shame just want to pass it on to someone who will love it like I used to, Mrs and kids v upset I've just had enough

Would never drive without insurance, but you can take any reasonable route for an mot.
Need gas for MOT so........, just make sure you have a booked appointment.
A weeks insurance is possible but not cheap cos of admin fees, better that than scrapping cos all you will get is £250 tops.
You could always pay your mate, make it worth his while...

Just a thought. I got 24 hour insurance cover to drive my LT home when I bought it from my car insurer (direct line) for £18 .

All done back together seems to run good perhaps a tad rich but I think good enough for now. Ready to travel the mile or so to the garage for a mot then time to reflect and think about its future. I'm quite amazed at how helpful you people are perhaps the world is not such a bad place. Going to have big brunch with the family then off to the local working mans club for Harvey's and chit chat, thanks again
