Hello Andy e

TransPorscher has given some numbers earlier in this thread.  According to the SA manufacturer I found (Alfa Brakes) the disc is correct for my 1996 2.6i  I've got various numbers for the pads which should cross-match.  Any information you can give will be welcome.  Thanks

This web site seem to have SA vented discs listed (www.mecatechnic.com)along with front calipers although no pads.

Hello All.  Has it really been six years?  This is what happened:

I got original SA discs from VW Heritage; Yellowstuff pads from EBC and braided hoses made up by HEL near Exeter.  The calipers were rebuilt and plated. New wheel bearings because the old ones were disintegrating - adjusted too tight. Not be me (he added quickly).

Anyway, now the electric windows have packed up and she won't run which is why I'm back looking for advice.

Richard

What is the issue with the windows ? are they the original T3/T3 ones ?
The motors tend to block due to rust and moisture and the plastic parts the lead the bowden cable also might break after some time.

Regards,
Kris

As far as I know the electric winders are original.  When I bought the bus the nearside didn't work and now the driver's side has petered out.

And do you hear the motor running ? it can be tested when you remove the doorpanel.
first thing is to determine if it is the motor or the mechanics, the motor has the biggest chance to be broken. They are available new.

Kris

Thanks Kris.  Neither motor runs.  I have the driver's door panel off and wiring disconnected.

If you feel confident you could open the motor and try to clean and grease it. Replacements are available but rather expensive.

Kris

Thanks Kris.I'll try a renovation first.

I see from the service record that both left and right mechanisms have been replaced once already.

I may go for a manual wind conversion.  In 15 years and around 200,000 miles my 1.9 WBX manual windows never let me down.

Kind thought - thanks.  I agree that it'd be a shame to take them out.  Maybe better maintenance is the key: I think electric window mechanisms are taken for granted.

Covered parking would be good: electrics and damp don't mix well.

Now she won't start so the window problem has taken a back seat.

Fortunately the Bay is running OK and it has manual windows.
