Hi Marc, there is nothing special to the job.  Just bottom hose off.  The 2.5's don't suffer from air locks so it should bleed itself if you leave it running for a while whilst keeping an eye on the coolant level.  I always leave the cap off to begin with.  Make sure to use the right coolant though. Thanks mate
I will give it a go ,I assume that the radiator cap is under the plastic cover in front of the bonnet lock.?
is the coolant a VW product or can you buy an aftermarket brand ? and do you buy it premixed

There's no cap on the rad.  Just refill from the normal expansion bottle.  You can get Comma or whatever but it's worth ringing VW on price in case they have a deal.  You use it neat.  You need about 4 litres G12+.

$30 or so for 1L concentrate from VW, makes 2 or 3 litres.Might need 2 or 3 bottles.
I only got one for topups if needed.
G12, G12+ or G12++ is fine when i asked

Penrite now list a G12 equivalent also

The cooling sysyem capacity is 7 litres.  You would usually need about 40-50% strength.

When I said 'you use it neat' I meant there is no need to pre-mix it.  I use distilled water because I live in slightly damp Cornish house and occasionally use a dehumidifier so it's free for me.  Most garages use tap water.  The later spec G12 is supposed to help with hard water.

Canberra water is supposedly fairly soft (ie not many minerals).
