Well I sold my t4 Multivan last weekend and on Tuesday I picked this up
06 LT35 109 very clean and only 61k on the clock. It feels loads bigger than the T4 (because it is!) But it absolutely flies!
My plan is to turn this into a quality camper and make it look a lot less like a builder's or courier's van!

I picked the windows up on Wednesday, and took delivery of some nice wheels and wind deflectors too. Yesterday I took the van to Nottingham and had the windows fitted.
Very pleased with windows - they look like a factory fit - which is what I wanted, proper bonded windows - no rubber laced shite!
I've left rear door panels in, but am going to be putting windows over these at a later date - purely to make van look better from outside - as I plan on having shower room / bog in back!

I went for Alutec van rated 16 inch wheels in the end - got them cheap as distributor is clearing stock. I decided not to go too big as roads in Sheffield are totally shot and van will be used daily, wanted an affordable commercial rated tyre - I liked them too!
fitted today with hankook commercial rated tyres - pretty pleased, starting to look less like a builder / courier job now! Also - as steeering wheel was a bit minging (previous owner was a dirty smoker I'm guessing!) I upholstered the wheel with nice black leather as well today! Started Dynamatting internal panels tonight...off to pick up a Reimo variotech rock n roll bed tomorrow! Edited by BenA - 15 Jun 12 at 14:06 |

Seem to have spent an age Dynamatting and insulating. Amazed at how much its taking - costing a fair bit this, but has changed van from very tinny to feeling solid, warmer and loads quieter.
After Dynamat, Thermowrap foil/bubble (2 layers) then Celotex, followed by final Thermowrap layer - basically insulating as much as I can... A finished rear door Edited by BenA - 20 Apr 15 at 09:05 |

It might be cheaper to buy a secondhand one, but to be honest most of the ones I've seen are shite homemade ones, and not really up to my standard or taste. I'm not necessarily doing this conversion the cheapest way, but I'm going to do it the best I can and do it right - something you can't guarantee buying secondhand. I'm not scrimping on sound deadening and insulation... or owt really. I'm looking at Westfalia James Cook as a inspiration for layout, though not doing a direct copy. And doing it this way I can get exactly what I want. I am going to try and save by picking up certain things secondhand. I've got a Reimo Variotech bed to fit, which will be the next job - I picked that up at about a third the cost of a new one - its going to be re-upholstered at some point so was a good saving. but you're right its not going to be cheap!
