looks in a similar state to the one we just picked up,
ours is just a body shell and an incomplete pile of bits.
location/moby number removed.

done a bit today! well nearly finished the nearside! just got 3 little holes in the rear arch to do and it can be moved to sort the front out!

cut out damaged sill swage

chopped up my doner sill and welded back in

then i thought i'd do the jacking point and lower "A" pillar and so started to cut...then cut some more... then cut some more... you get the idea on where this is leading don't you!LOL

so all the rot gone time to get fabbing!

so one straight piece to rebuild the inner sill and one triangle to meet the "A" pillar

then one section to butt upto the chassis mounts and one piece to meet the floor

then one big bit to fill my hole! Wink looks like theres two runs of weld round the outside doesnt it? well as i've rebuilt the jacking point with 2mm steel and seamed all the way round i thought i might be better to overlap the floor plate and weld both sides for a bit more beef like! its covered so it wont be seen from the inside and its going to be soooo low i don't think anyone will want to try and get under it!

outside of the "A" pillar which will be covered by the wing - all the good bits are covered! - 3 plates here - the hole is where the grommit goes  and it'll be used for filling with cavity wax

and finally the little holes in the sills!

done!

a lifetime of ear-bleeding later (grinder and welds on thin metal ring like fuck! Shocked)

bit of red oxide to cover until we're ready for paint prep!  and no hutch its not going red like the murder wagen!

how are you droping tha back end..?
spent a day a couple of weeks back working on one of these.
the beam had been fliped onto the top of the rear leaf springs but the guy wanted to go lower..

he is on 14" rims and low pro tyres so after looking for some time at adding spacers to drop the rear spring even further from the underside of the rear springs. we came up wth another idear.

rase the front leaf spring mounts up into the body.
it was quite easy to do and all the steelwork thats needed is there..

have a look at where your front leaf spring bolts go. you will see what i meen.

may be able to get you some pics.

ooh sounds interesting! my main issue with dropping it is they seem to go into negative camber? so was thinking of shimming the stub axles but the chances of getting the bolts out without headaches are slim!

i know! i've seen quite a few that look this way lowered? they must of actually flipped the beam instead of relocating the platforms? what you think?

then just as ive ground it to fit and welded it in the missus calls me with a water leak in the new bathroom! oh fuck, off home we go.......

finished off me my o/s/corner. and filled a few holes while i was in the area.....

then almost bought a clutch repair plate then thought fuck it i'll make one

simples as them rats say! then thought i'd strip the steering rack and get me some track rod ends and gaitors before the engine goes back in. so off to ebay for them now!

as far as i know the stub mounts are straight 90 degree.
when they re locate on top  of the rear springs it gives a fair drop. but when you want to get it very low...... it would meen loads of packers between the rear springs and the beam.
then you end up with the rear springs getting silly close to the ground.

will try to get some pics when im next at ma mateĀ“s workshop

bit done this weekend....
saturdays fun....

stripped engine ancillaries down to fit a few bits and bobs and wheeled it outside for a degreasing session

fitted my new second hand rack and a set of track rod ends! even came with a neuspeed short shift kit! bonus!

and fitted drivers door and fucked about with that until it sat right then rewelded the bottom hinge that had split

that was it for the day so sunday brings me here....

holey holey holey!

sill

"a" pillar

inner and outer cut out and replaced

same for "a" pillar

wankey shot of how bad she's looking!

rear arches left now and everythings in my way!

so off comes the axle! one stubborn bolt but came off better than expected!

then thought i'd beat out the arches

before....

after....

cut off numberplate holder and got the wire brush out to get the flakey stuff off

and a quick paint of the bare metal before i go home!

rear shot

little bit of cleaning up under there but just inner arches to sort mainly
