Hello, Im kinda new to the site, im looking to get a shortend sump or a sump guard for my T3, dont no what route to take. Ive read that some people have trouble with shortend sumps, was looking at http://www.smallcar.com alloy sumps and wonderd if there any good. Ive got a full RJES conversion in my van, ive spoke to richard at RJES and he recommended a kennedy sump but went on the web side and says there no longer available, Any help please

I have the smallcar sump, and have done about 5000 miles with no problems - even at high speed. long runs. It regularly sees 6000 rpm and no issues so far. Seems very solid if nothing else!

Hello and thanks for the info, the small car sumps do look strong. Do the small car sumps have baffles?

Not 100%, but I'm sure I heard somewhere that small car sumps don't fit with RJES engine mount? Definitely worth double checking with Richard before you spend your hard earned.

There are no baffles in the small car sump. I supppose you could add some, but I've had no issues (I give it a hard time sometimes!). If the oil level is correct, I don't think it would matter.

You could take your current sump off and have it winged and flattened by a fabricator. I have seen a couple and they seem to do the job.
I am probably going to have this done myself at some point. The small car sump is also big bucks! |

I've bought and fitted one to a 16" syncro - expensive but really solid bit of kit. The owner simply jacks the back of the van up on the sump now! no baffles in it, and the rest of the install was done with RJES kit on a 2.5 EJ

Thats great, but a fabricator could build that for you for a fraction of the price right? :)
Good link as it shows a proven product. |

trying to find a decent fabricator around here is a tad difficult as there don't seem to be that many and the ones i have visited do not seem interested in doing anything out of the ordinary
