My light has been off for 3 months now. Not sure if problem has "gone away" or bulb has burnt out... Prefer ostrich approach + presume all is well lol

Yes it can definately be done but then you are fitting a secondhand/unknown part on the brakes. Shocked  Ask your garage about a rebuilt unit probably half the price.  Busboys link is a good place to start. Smile

Anyone with a fully registered VCDS can do it in theory but it is a bit involved.  A clued up indie should be able to do it for you.  If you can wait a week or so I can do it if you don't mind coming over to Cornwall.  Worth at least asking the dealer how much though...

Thread revival time!

Did you end up replacing the pump/ecu Martyn or did the brake pedal "fix" do the trick?

I ask as my mate's 1.9TDi T5 has just developed the same symptoms and BBA-Reman don't have any units in stock at the moment so I told him try your method...might work, might not.

Was it just a case of wedging the brake pedal down and taking the brake light fuse out so it doesn't drain the battery or was there something more technical involved?
