Can any one help i have a WV crafter 2006 136bhp and has done 100k when its been stud over night 1st and 2nd gear is imposable to get in,when the van has been running for 5/10 min's it gets better and can engage gears but its not great.only started doing since this cold weather appeared.

does it have the correct viscosity oil in/ has it ever been changed? as you say it has only started happening since this really cold snap it could be related, might be worth getting the motor/gearbox up to normal temp then draining and refilling the gearbox with new oil (making sure it's the correct oil) as a first step as it'd be a fairly cheap fix if this is the cause and it certainly can't do any harm, gotta be worth a try as a first option in my opinion.

Hi thank for that info,have had it checked and was told oil level is ok and it runs on a very thin grade oil that is very expensive from the stealer's.i am going to try an oil change and hope that sorts it out.just wondered if you could put a different grade oil in like you can in the old vans to stop them clunking gears,have been told hydraulic oil is good |
