Hi i have a problem with a 2005 transporter t30 130 auto,
we bought the van new and ran it to 156000 then sold it to a friend,
as i have vagcom i read the faults today and cleared any thing that was there.

The flashing symbol is still on the dashboard and there doesn't appear to be any faults?
I scanned using 7H, is this the right one for a t5 with a lot of options?
Any other suggestions? It isn't in the manual!
Thanks

So is the flashing key on the dash your only issue? ie it still starts drives etc
Flashing key on dash would suggest an immobiliser issue.......

I agree that it sounds like an immobiliser issue, but thought it would give a vag com fault, if i'm scanning on the right search, 7H 7G etc..
Thanks for the reply!

That symbol usually means the ECU thinks a incorrect key (like a surf key) has been used. It should come up with a code though. Once it's cleared it will be ok unless whatever it is happens again.
Odd you've got no codes. I thought the immobilizer codes came under 'cent conv'. You could try opening that controller individually and look for codes (hit 'c lear codes' even though none are showing or try opening the controller marked 'security' and see if VCDS can open it. If it asks for a security code that's another problem.
Mind you if it's a fleaby copy VCDS maybe it's not showing all the codes (especially security related ones)
Edit- 7H should be ok. You can check on the chassis number if you are not sure. Just noticed your VCDS version- not fleabay then... What codes did you clear btw? Edited by T5 TDI - 15 Dec 10 at 09:52 |

The only 2 faults i cleared were a passenger window regulator fault from when the cables broke and a intermittent low air conditioning pressure alarm both of which have stayed cleared!
Had another go with the key problem by reading module 46 and even though no faults showed cleared them but no better, i managed to get into the adaptation menu and found in option 1 you can add extra keys so i was wondering about re adding both his keys?
Has anyone played with this? I haven't tried disconnecting the battery yet for a bit to see if that gets rid of it.
Also in the adaptation menu were all the options for auto lock, bleep on alarm setting, lights flash on locking etc... it's brilliant what you can change!
Thanks for any help!

The security option is grey'd out, do i need to log in to access it?
Does anyone know the log in details?

If the keys are starting the van ok you shouldn't need to. The van would cut out immedately after starting if start if any key isn't recognised.
No problem playing with the lock beeps/auto locking etc in that controller if you use the fixed menu. Don't make any adaptions via the 'coding' option until you know how it all works.
Another fun thing to do is run the test function in the instruments controller (17) and watch all the instruments do a sweep. Then all the warning lights come on in turn plus other things. While you there have a look at 'measuring blocks' and see if it lists any warning lights as being 'on'.
When opening the engine controller be careful to only use the 'measuring blocks' and 'fault codes' functions because you can do some damage to the engine or at least make it impossible to start by changing codings etc there.
I can't really think what could cause the warning light and yet leave no codes but don't delete any keys unless you are organised with the SKC code (secret key code) for the van and the procedures to adapt the keys. Edited by T5 TDI - 18 Dec 10 at 18:54 |
