Great project.
That winch set-up is the neatest/best I've seen, without the nose wieght issues. How are you going to fit the bash-plate?

Ok, so this is an forever ongoing discussion... But I have to ask.

The audi V6 is a great engine but heavy and raises your centre of gravity. Wouldn´t a subaru 2.5 be a better option? A raised syncro on high wheels with a heavy and higher-sitting engine? I would do my best to keep weight down and low.

Ville, next year you should come to the Arctic Circle Bus Meet :D It´s not THAT far from Oulo :D

The only issues with the subaru is the deep sump. Otherwise it is the perfect up-grade. As VW intended, light & low. I'm in the process of fitting one to mine but haven't put too much thought into sump-shortening yet as I just want to hear it roar first, then start tinkering.

Early days & not too sure what that is.
I was thinking lobbing a couple of inches off the bottom & maybe adding a oil cooler somehow.
Sorry for hijack!

2.8 V6 is heavy, mayby it raise centre gravity, and mayby there is better engines. ok.

But, it`s a VAG engine, nothing beats cubic inches and they are cheap.  Subaru engine would cost me 3000€ vs. v6 1500€

I agree about the VAG thing. It feels right :D I can´t imagine the price difference between the two engines being that great in Norway. I was recently offered a complete 3.0 H6 from an outback for 15000NOK, thats about €1800. A 2.5 would be around €1500. Thats what I´m going for in my doka :D

See you next july then :D
