Sodding Main Stealer wouldn't sell me them...said they were 'Brand Inhibited' and I'd have to go to TPS because it was a mod !

Hi All,
If anyone is waiting for a reply or trying to contact T4trickster,don`t hold your breath,I got pissed around for months excuse after excuse.Eventually went to TPS and for £185.77 bought the 5th gear upgade,2 cogs(O2D 311 361 + O2D 311 158).This is the 0.681 ratio and means your van will cruise at 70mph @ around 2850/3000rpm depending on tyre size etc.
Regards,
Bernard

i'm sure the 68 is out of the syncro so like rocking horse shit to find. the 70 is from Mk3 Golf Tdi, Passat & Seat etc - all early 90's VAG diesel. Do a google search as there are lists of the correct gearbox codes out there.

i had a look at the link..
but im still unsure of the correct mk3 box codes....
looking through the chart at the bottom i coild only see 0.71 5 gear no 70 (presume thats 0.70??)
its such a pittty all the t3 stuff is different.. it would make gear mds to those boxes much easier.
i know that geting the right revs for long runs makes a huge difference.
my t4 a lwb 2.5tdi 88bhp van
when we drove down to spain last time. if you sit at 70 (on the speedo that im sure reads wrong)
there is a major difference from sitting at 75.
at 80 you can realy see a mpg drop.
im quite sure my van over reads by about 8mph so im probably only doing 65ish when getting reasonable mpg.

the .68 gear is the holy grail. maybe have a word with Simon & see if he can source one. also have you seen the 'how to' in the tech section

i'd be happy if the .70 one helps drop the revs..
what "should be" in my t4?
T plate
88bhp 2.5tdi.

In the processs of rebuilding a 5 speed box so if I could get improved ratio parts that would be nifty! Thanks Ronan |
