Hmmm... Should have slept on it before my last post... So it's all very well talking about tones and stuff, but just saying 'twin tone' or 'single tone' doesn't differentiate between a good and bad note.
Does anyone know what the Stebel Nautilus sounds like? Is the mazda RX8 close?
To be honest - I am tempted by one on name alone!!

Doesn't single tone mean the notes don't change during the duration of the 'blast'?

Twin Tone: Two notes of different pitch sounding simultaneously, hence the name. If they both sounded the same, what would be the point?
I'm going for a lie down.

Just make sure you keep it dry if you mount in the wheel arch where the original is/was located. It will fail in weeks if it's subjected to excessive moisture & road grime I made a couple of Housings/Covers from 5 litre Containers to protect em |

Yep! My T4 has factory fitted twin tone horn. The Stebel Nautilus that was destined for the T3 is now going on the T4.

That means that every UK registered car with a twin tone horn eg. BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, big Rovers & lots of more modest cars have illegal horns & invalid MOTs.

I don't think there's any confussion the law states it must be a single tone. havin a horn under both wings of a T4 still make the same continuess sound not AAHH AAHH |

The thing is that it shouldn't be down to the MOT tester to decide what type of horn to pass/fail at MOT time. The types of horn that are legal or illegal will be stated in the Road Traffic Act or Construction & Use Regs. Do decibels come into the equation ie. excessively loud?

Trouble is the MOT is still a bit Subjective,
What passes at one station dont necessarily pass at another. |
