Hi Liz,

The original engine was an Audi 2.0, don't see why they would have changed the dipstick.
Might give you more options. Just ring a local dealer and check its the same part no.

Thanks Andy - I have rung around lots of VW breakers and dealers.  The dealers all say that parts are obselete and so far no breakers have a dip stick.
I just rang the VW and Audi place in Arundel and they were amazingly unhelpful saying we have not time to work out if dip stick is same for Audi and VW - wow was bit of an unexpected response!
When you suggest local dealers - do you mean of Audis?or VWs -
thanks again Andy

Try them both, my local VW dealer is **** but the one in Carmarthen is really helpful but miles away.
VAGCAT will give you the part no, but won't tell you what vehicles it fits which is what you need to know.

Try a few dealers, hopefully you'll find a helpful parts guy who is willing to help.

I have to correct you there Andy - if you do (did?) a search for part no. on VAGCAT it will then list all the applications it fits. I have used this function in the past. Unfortunately, as VAGCAT is still down, and the Russian translated version does not offer this then my reply is of little use...
The dipstick listed under the following engine nos. (DL, HS; / DIGIFANT: 1E) for the 1984 model year is part no. 075115611B. Someone with more knowledge than me may be able to confirm whether any of these is the code for a 2.0 litre engine. If you can give the code to a dealer they may be more inclined to help! Good luck.
Mid engined, 6 cylinder, turbocharged 2 seater - it can only be a VW LT!

You will find your engine number on your V5 registration document. For example I have the ACL engine, so my engine number starts ACL followed by 6 digits. I would expect yours to have the same format.
(I think that the 1E/Digifant engine are one and the same, but can't remember why I think that...)

Hi I realised ch078206 is my engine number not the chassis which is 28a0016647.
Thanks for tips - what the dealers have said is there are no records for number of part related to the Ch engine and that it was only made for short time-between 1975 and 1982. The guy at Eurovans was super helpful but said the part looked similar to one you gave me the number for but no record to say would match. Seems vw don't have any record of numbers of parts for that particular engine. I'm thinking I can just keep calling breakers and see what i can find. Seems none of the dealers can tell me if dip stick for any other engine would fit,
so at bit of loose end, thanks again, and if you think of any other way I can find if would match that of other engine or amy dealers specialising in lts cheers, liz

The_Blue :
The motor was used in a number of early cars ( pre 82 ish ) but the impellers are different so there is no cross-reference. Part number 281 965 105A is correct and runs 76-96.
They do come up on eBay UK  but are much more likely to be found on eBay Germany.
Cheers

DIPSTICK : 2Ltr petrol (76-82 ) is Code : CH and the part number is 060 115 611. To my knowledge ( excusing Senior Moments ) the engine would have been fitted in the Audi 100 saloon and avant razoredge models not the long super slippery later version ) but no other VW. The part number does not cross-reference to any other engine. Maybe this widens your search.

Lizdancing :

Dealers will not find any other engine that your dipstick is fitted to because they were Audi so will have a different part number.

The Audi 100 series that I refer to was late 1970s early 1980s and used a 2ltr and 2.2ltr engine. The dipstick has long dissapeared of the Audi dealer system so your only chance ( as I mentioned prior ) is to search eBay and the scrappers but the scrappers are doubtful as China produced the "Great Clearing at a Premium" that all of the breakers had been waiting years for.

Good luck!

For pierburg 2e3 carb equipped vehicles some of the carb parts are interchangeable between VW group cars (polo, skoda favorit etc.) but be careful eventhough the carb IDs are similar some minor changes between carburateur parts may exist for different models (ie accelerator pump diaphgram shaft varies). I urge you to take the defective part to the shop for comparison.

If you have mirror arms then Wilcodirect.co.uk should be able to supply either the glass or a complete unit. Just bought a new glass for mine for the mot £10 delivered.
Just measure up before you ring them.
