Why do you say that? I can understand 300/350hp being quick but would it be reliable?
If running without turbo, possible?, what would be the hp & would it make it more reliable?
I really don't know, not being funny & may be interested

The motor has been built with running a turbo system, LOTS of boost & nitrous or water injection in mind. and as a daily driver and for long haul beach trips. (moon on a stick requirements lol). As with any engine the more you tune it the more stress you subject the components to... The bottom end is built to be as bullet proof as possible without getting too exotic.

The engine will run very happily normally aspirated, put some 44 IDAs on or a pair of throttle bodies and it'll make a quick, strong engine. How much power it would make N/A is really just a guess. A stock MV is listed as 95bhp so you can image upwards from there... it'll depend a lot on the induction and exhaust and tuning.

Although the TCS-20 is a turbo grind cam it is quite tall and with ratio rockers and the bit of head work that's been done this will breathe well. The dynamic balance will also help considerably. Less power is sapped by the components themselves and the balancing will help increase engine life and reduce wear. The straight cut cam gear whilst making a great noise will also sap less power. The valve train and rotating assembly is now lighter and stronger so the engine will comfortably rev higher. The power output and profile will be highly dependent on the induction and exhaust.

As a rule of thumb, (IMHO) trying to make BIG power out of an antique design 4 pot motor is always going to be expensive or hassle or both but running N/A or with a lower pressure turbo system (8-14lb) this should make great power and do it all day long.

Well I understood a good half of that! Embarrassed

Like the idea of making my doka a bit mental but I guess I should concentrate on my syncro.

Good luck & here's another bump.

I've been doing a little bit of circuits and the long term plan has been to start drift racing in the bus. Got all the essentials sorted out now.

• suspension tuning
• all round big disc brake conversion (courtesy of www.futbus.co.uk)
• mp3 stereo & amps
• a full westie interior

so everything is ready to race
:)
