I am in the middle of designing the inside of my LT35 and I am not sure what to do with the spare tyre. I don't want to store it where it would normally go (I have welded in a new floor part there anyway and removed the tyre dip in the floor)

What have other people done with storing the spare tyre when you go on your travels?

I'm currently doing the same. I'm quite keen to put it on the front but unsure of whether it's such a great idea given the weight. Also likely to lower flow through the front. Other option I'm considering is on a roof rack - just investigating them at the minute.

I'm also having the same head scratch and i'm curious what other people have done. I'm not so keen on hanging it on the front or rear doors so i can only go for underneath.

I did have a look underneath, but summised that the ground clearance wasn't really enough - Without cutting out ribs...

not to hand but i will take one when i get a minute.

It's mounted onto a hinged rack that swings with the door.
Came with the van so not sure if it's a generic rack or not, but the mountings seem to line up exactly with the rear door hinges.

Dan - I can't really see that working - but I've seen a few other bits on Ebay that would help - thanks for the reminder about ebay... :o)

I think im going to mount mine on the front as Im going to fit a steel box for gas storage on one back door and I have a ladder on the other, on the front it will protect the fron grille and wont effect the airflow much as this goes under the bumper the grille is realy just cosmetic

Mine is also on the rear door, with steelwork that goes through at the hinge mounts and fixes onto part of the door too. Works fine - and covers costs pence for them - though I might have a steel cover made in time and sprayed to match.

I do like the front mounted idea - didn't think about gas bottle storage, I was going to put that in a cupboard under a sink unit, but now you mention it...

be careful of the front mount idea, i read recently of a mint bay window T2 and they had a 5mph shunt into the car in font, and the wheel took  the force, but the front panel caved in.
the bumper would have taken the impact,

I made up a cradle using a bit of steel bar from a shopping trolly and mounted it under the side door towards the back i can just wind it down unlip it and pull the wheel out but have often been tempted to sling it on the back but made a bike rack now so cant do that as the bikes go right up to the back doors so theres not much overhang.
