Gotta say  - considering it was a desperation move on my part I'm well happy with it.  I'll know more when Chappy Junior has used it a couple of times.
Only thing I would have liked if for the canvas to be a little wider.  But I reckon it'll stretch.

I'll see if I can get some pics and put 'em up tomorrow.

Looks Good!  Agree it looks a little high as compared to original Westy, but the canvas is about same tightness as westy.

as i have the bluebird i would say this was better, mine is an inch higher but once they are in they are fine, one thing that paniced me was the boy laying on his back with his feet on the cab roof pushing as to make a trampoline affect.

Yours is a bit different to the one I have, the poles on mine dont have the offset bend at the end before the bracket, it is more of a hook affair....

Looks good though fella! Good job!

So - thought I'd resurrect this old thread as we've now had planty of opportunity to test out the nippers bed...

We did 2000 miles round the UK over three weeks and one weekend at Port Eynon since and we've had no probs at all with the JK bed.

In fact, as it's been used, it seems to have bedded in (excuse the pun) and is now just right.  It sags nicely in the middle so nipper won't fall out, plenty of room for him and it doesn't interfere with the seat headrests - in fact they're handy for provided an extra bit of 'wedge' to kee the rear bar firmly in place - although i have no doubt it wouldn't come out anyway Big%20smile

So, if you're looking for a goo priced and easy to set up bed (they even provided the drill bit) I can deffo recommend this!  Pity their webshop is now super gash though... LOL

Hi Chappy,

It looks like your lad is enjoying his new bed. Can you just confirm that you only needed to buy the bed (at £39) and not the other brackets that they advertise for the T3 as well?

One other question. I see you have a high top but I cannot quite make out from your pictures whether the cab roof is higher than a poptop (or panel van) roof. I want to make sure that I can get my son into the bed if I fit it into my Westie poptop.

Thanks

Richard

Yup - all I bought was the kit for £39.95 (part number J11825).  It came with everything required - poles, canvas, brackets, screws and even the drill bit to drill the holes.  Weirdly, I just checked their site (urrggghh the new format is sooooooo bad Dead - god knows what possessed them to implement that change) and it says that you'll have to source the screws locally, but they came in th kit I got.  They're only self tappers though, so easilty available.

The cab roof is standard height.  It looks a bit higher in the pics, but it's actually the normal headlining over the front seats.  There's a cupboard above the front seats in the hightop, and the normal roof part acts as the cupboard 'floor'.  So you shouldn't have a problem.

Thank you Chappy,

You have convinced me to go for one - if I can find it on their site. You're right, what a mess.

I have had a Bluebird one for a year now. Used it in my T3 Autosleeper for the son and then recently in the T3 Gypsy for him. No problems fitting and well impressed, a quality product I think.Thumbs%20Up

I looked at the Bluebird one but it seems that most peoples experience is that it doesn't fit onthe A and B posts - seems that the canves wasn't wide enough so the brackets have to go on either the A posts and the rear of the door window frame, or the B posts and the front of the door window frame.

I even rang bluebird and checked and they confirmed - twice! (even though it says A and B posts on their webshite).  No good for me 'cos I needed to be able to open the doors when the nipper was in-situ to get to stuff in the footwells etc

and the JK one was £20 cheaper Big%20smile

Will get some pictures of mine sorted but I fitted it on the A and B posts with no problems?

Still allows for a bit of sag, just enough to keep the boy in, and enough room for storage underneath with the dogs bed also on the seat. My lad has spent over 30 nights in ours this year and is as happy as in his bed at home. Was a bit of hassle to take down and put away each day in the Autosleeper but in the Gypsy we just unhook it and pop it up with the bedding still in it to the overcab bed. Thinking back I did have to file the hooks on the extending pole to the A posts to get them to fit into the brackets nice.

The JK one just looked a bit flimsy in comparason?

not sure if they'll tilt forwards out of the way enough to clear the front brackets.
the saab seat backs are quite a bit higher than the standard seats i had in before...can't take the headrests out without tilting the seats...
i'll have a look tonight.
