Has anyone got one for their T3? Where did you get it from and is it any good?? Would like one for the wee one to sleep in but don't just want to buy anything and then regret it :)

Cheers

It's another one of those thing I'll get around to doing jobs.
I have borrowed one, to take drawings from.
Already punted it around a machine shop or 2, no one seems interested in making them.
I'll find someone eventually, but I'm a fussy b*stard, I want it right.
I've seen "some of the others" and I wouldn't put a bag on them and expect the badly welded bits of cheap stainless to hold that up never mind a baby.

JK sell the cups that mount to the pillars, just need to find out who makes them for JK!

I had a bluebird one in my last van and tbh i found it a pain! U lose that space for anything and can't use the swivel seat if you have one, can't open the front doors and even windows was awkward and if you wanted to go out for the day you had to take it down even worse if you just put stuff in it!
Sounded like a great idea but wouldn't bother again! LOL
Actually if i ever find it again it'll be going in the for sale section! LOL

there was a thread on here somewhere with loads of photos that I took of mine, if not search on 80-90 cuz I put them on there too. I've got the bluebird one, and they say it fits Splits, Bays and wedges - but it doesn't fit a wedge without attaching to the drivers door - so hurry up Si and get a decent one built Tongue

I've fitted a Bluebird one to my Bay and it worked great but guess what? It doesn't fit in the Wedge Thumbs%20Down

After reading Louey's post about fitting the brackets to the door, I can see why now!

What I've done now is use the Blubird poles and fittings but had a new wider hamock made up...............

is that all it is then harry, the material for  sleeping on isnt long enough for the poles to attach to the a post so you have to fasten them to the door?
has anyone pulled bluebird about this?, surely they can make the material wider for the t3?

I pulled BB up on it but they didn't seem too bothered - I guess I could get a bigger piece of canvas, just been lazy

I've got the bluebird one,  I had a moan when it turned up as I didn't want it attached to the doors,  so I gave them the required dimension for the T3 and they had a new sheet made up for me, that was about 12 months ago. So if you tell them it's for a T3 and you need the wider sheet you should be OK.  Cheaper than a pop top and takes about 2 mins to put upSmile

Thanks for the input. I'd found the bluebird one and thought it looked a bit sturdier than the jk one. Are the JK brackets plastic?

Si--- don't think I can wait for you to make one unfortunately :(

Bit of a pain I know, but do you have a pic of where you have mounted the brackets and what size sheet did you ask for. I did phone them but he just said they fit all

Bugger - I've just (last week) orders a 3/4 R n' R bed and front cab bunk thingy from Bluebird.  The R n' R bed is out of stock at the mo so I've go time to cancel.

I think I'll give 'em a call tomorrow to see what the score is - the web site deffo says fits to A and B pillars - and that's under the T 25 link.  If it has to go on the door I don't want it Unhappy

Right-o....called Bluebird today the (admittedly) very nice lass who answered the phane confirmed that you had to fit the rear mounting points to the door frame.

So - order cancelled !

Now looking for alternatives !

Mine are at the machine shop for them to have a nosey at.
I can tell you it won't be quick but they will use OE style fixings (attractive, not some bent bits of stainless)
I want to do 2 kits, one for Westy owners to utilise their original brackets and one as a complete kit.
They maybe redesigned slightly, but I want to use the very nice looking Westy mounts.
As usual with stuff like this, they take time, one machine shop has already said they can't do them so I may stray away from the folded U section of the originals and may end up as tube, but so long as they take the 40kg weight of the Westy originals I'm not arsed.
