As far as I know VW now say that all engines with cambelts should have them changed every 4 years. Lucky you don't own a Passat! |

I don't think VW specify a mileage these days. We always used to do cambelts on VWs at 60k but now they have moved the goalposts with this 4 year thing. On this basis a TDI Passat could cost you £600 or so every 4 years at a main dealer because you have to take so many bits off, starting with the headlamps and the bumper! A cynical person might think they were just covering their ass! |

Had my 04 plate done at 66000 miles in January...
When I first bought it the Main Stealer told me to change it at 40000 miles. And they sent me a letter to remind me when they estimated that I'd have done 40000. I'd long since kicked them into touch and used an independant. Cost about £200 + vat. |

Personally I'd go for the 2007- take the warranty (and piece of mind) and get the windows done yourself as and when budget/needs dictate!

i think that is what we will do but it is easy to get carried away with the plushness of the others, although 2 years without worries has to be best. thanks everone jim |
