Am I missing something here? (probably) What is the difference between an
LT28 and a LT31?

Confused, North Somerset

Think its the weight of what you can carry or most likely total weight of van and stuff you can put in 28 is 2.8ton 31 is 3.1ton 35 is 3.5ton and so on for the 40 and 45 ?

Thank you Mike, that's sounds right to me.

However - why make some Westfalia Floridas from LT28s and others LT31s?
I don't get it unless they just used what VW had spare. Would a 28 weigh
less than a 31 and therefore be quicker?

What have you got there?

Still confused, North Somerset

Yes mine's a Westy LT 31 (for sale too, have a look...!) but I have seen 28's out there & no noticeable difference.  GVW on a LT 31 is 3,200 KGS mind...

The name refers to the maximum weight at full load. With the Florida on LT31 you have more usable weitgh for load than with LT28. Of course, since there are some differences in weight between LT28 and LT31 when discharged, with the Florida on LT31 you have not 300Kg of weight usable but something less. I do not have the precise figures handy now.

Thank you Debo/piecost76/mike38
Okay - I think I've got it!

LT28 TD Florida can carry a load of 2800kg and weighs 2485kg.
LT31 TD Florida can carry a load of 3100kg and weighs 2535kg.

So it doesn't really make much difference unless you want to carry a lot of
stuff! I guess a 28 is pulling less weight.

Hi

Ours is an LT 31 and We always thought the differance was the weight capcity and it is slightly longer than all the 28's we have seen as it has the extra little window same as the 35

Cheers

SImon & Kirsty
