Synco vs LT mirrors

   I have a set of LT arms, syncro bottom mounts, new mirrors, but don't have top mounts.  It appears the  LT arms are either shorter on top or longer on bottom then syncro arms as LT arms angle in at top.  I noticed there is a pin through casting over end of bottom of arm and was able to remove the pin, but couldn't get the arm to come out.  Has anyone managed to get the casting off of arm? If I could get arm out, I could cut off a little, put casting back on, drill and replace pin... and they would be straight up instead of angled in at top!  

Are top mounting brackets still available from VW?
